The Town was originally established more than a 100 years ago as a train station to pick up feed for horses for the Cape Town Castle parade every morning in those years and later became a town after the Dutch Reformed Church bought the two farms on which the town is situated today to form a NG Kerk for local members and some way ward ones that found the Sunday morning horse and buggy trip to Moorreesburg too arduous, as this was worry some to the church leaders .
Misverstand dam with all its leisurely activities and camping is 12 kilometres away and the wine farms Ord De Rac and Nieuwedrift both not far away.
Malmesbury and Riebeeck West is both a hlf an hour's drive and most people do their shopping and business at Moorreesburg and Piketberg that is a 15 miinutes drive either way. The schools in both Moorreesburg and Piketberg is well known and both also has "koshuis" fascilities for learners.
Malmesbury has a private hospital and Doctors and dentists and optometrists , vets etc are available in both Moorreesburg and Piketberg. Both towns also have hardware stores, Ko-Ops and Shoprite's and Spar's outlets along with Clicks and Pharmacies etc.
