This 33 ha wine farm lies in a renowned mini wine region to the west of Paarl below Paarl Mountain. Described as the benchmark of excellence this wine ward reflects the terroir needed for making world class wines.
The main farming activity constitutes 11 ha of predominantly red wine grapes, all of which are popular cultivars for producing top hand crafted wines. Approximately 30 tons of harvested grapes are processed in the cellar, but the cellar has the capacity to process 150 tonnes. Wines produced in the cellar have received international wine awards.
Water is obtained from 2 boreholes (delivering capacities of 14 000 & 1 400 l/h) as well as from 8 ha registered water usage rights. This water gets stored in a large reservoir from where the wine grapes are irrigated under natural gravitation. In addition to the established vineyards there is another 6 ha arable land for future plantings, approximately 11 ha of natural vegetation suitable for livestock grazing/horse paddocks, 3 ha mountainous land while the remaining 2 ha allow for buildings and farmyard.
The 5 bedroom/ 3 bathroom main house presents itself as a comfortable family home. Against the mountain slopes is a rentable 2 bedroom/2 bathroom cottage. There is furthermore a labourer's cottage with only 1 staff member living permanently on the property. Behind the cellar is a lean-to/roofed structure.
Between the production section (tanks) and the maturation section (barrels, bottled stock) of the cellar is a double volume wine tasting room from which spectacular views can be enjoyed, including Table Mountain.
A steel spiral staircase rotates upwards from the tasting room to a loft with 2 rooms and mezzanine living area. Approval (with the relevant rights in place) to run a restaurant at the cellar has been obtained. The use of land is zoned Agriculture 2.
